Why do venues have rules and a contract?

Venues have rules for a few practical reasons:

  1. Safety — Rules help prevent injuries, fires, overcrowding, violence, and other hazards. For example, limits on capacity, restrictions on certain items, and emergency-exit requirements are often tied to safety regulations.

  2. Legal compliance — Many venues must follow laws, building codes, licensing requirements, and insurance policies. Rules about alcohol, smoking, age restrictions, or prohibited items may be legally required.

  3. Protecting property — Venues want to prevent damage to their facilities, equipment, and furnishings. Rules can limit activities that could cause wear, vandalism, or costly repairs.

  4. Creating a good experience — Rules about behavior, noise, photography, seating, or entry procedures help ensure that guests can enjoy the event without disruptions.

  5. Operational efficiency — Venues need to manage crowds, staff, schedules, and resources. Rules make it easier to keep events running smoothly and on time.

  6. Liability and risk management — Clear rules can reduce the risk of accidents and disputes, helping protect both the venue and its guests.

These are just a few stories from just a few weddings.  Weddings can be high emotion and def stressed if the wedding has not been planned for in every aspect.

Bride getting so inebriated she could barely get down the aisle

Groom Getting so inebriated yelling at his new bride, having her sobbing screaming crying in the bridal suite for over an hour

When i first opened I didn’t require security and a few hours passed by and when i walked into the venue it was a huge cloud of smoke (weed).  Almost impossible to get that smell out of the curtains in the venue.

Red wine spilled on almost all the white tablecloths

Chandelier being broken by bouquet toss

Girl ripping curtains off the wall because she was mad

Another girl crushing the round arch and bent it

Burn marks on the counter in the bridal room

Cutting the bushes and trees to make their own centerpieces

Countless decor being taken at the end of the night

Food splattered on the curtains

Food dumped in the sink with the septic tank

Orbies dumped in the sink with the septic tank

Bridesmaid puked in the bathroom sink

Our capacity has always been 200.  I have had three weddings where they had close to 250 guest.  As you can imagine there are not enough tables or chairs so people had to be outside feeling confused.

Bridesmaid left after the wedding passed out on the couch

Huge roast beef with gravy dumped all over the porch

Puke all over the stairs

Kids passing thru the barb wire to the neighbors property and messing with neighbors horses

Kids throwing rocks at neighbors horses

Multiple weddings no parents watching children and kids fingers getting slammed in the doors

Kids playing in the parking lot

Kids hiding under cars

Kids throwing rocks at the metal building

Kids running on the bench’s outside falling and one hitting their head

Kids digging holes in the landscape

Trailer backed over the stone patio breaking the very expensive flagstone

Caterer left a 16in scratch on the wood floors

A guy broke a chair and didn’t let anyone know.  Folded it and set it next to the wall.  Another lady wanted to sit while she was in line for food, unfolded the chair and immediately went down.

Bridesmaid Layed her flowers onto a candle and caught the table on fire

DJ moved all the tables and chairs to the dance floor so he could set up his enormous setup

A dad brought a step mom that was purposely told not to come.  When she walked in the bride immedeatly ran to the bridal suite crying

Two different weddings the mom got uninvited after the rehearsal

One dad of groom was asked to leave by the bride after he called her sister the b word

Kids jumping on the couch

Kids throwing rocks at cars

The brides sister made the bride cry and then i had to ask the sister to not put her hands on the bride.

A lady was told that all the decor on one table belonged to the venue, and she still went over to the table and grabbed decor and headed for the door.

After one wedding the groom took photos with the bridal veil for almost an hour with the photographer

Massive hole in the bathroom and backed up the toilet

Broke the clock in the grooms room and shattered the glass

Kids left the water hose on flooding the inside of the venue

Employees car was hit in the parking lot

Vendor that brings large light up letters backed over the flagstone patio breaking it
